    THE POSITION:

    This is a key leadership position directly responsible for the management of the daily operations of various, diverse functions in support of distribution center operations.  These functions include data management, inventory control, reverse logistics, safety and security as well as facilities management.  The position will involve interfacing with our clients in addition to other internal entities as well as outside entities in the attainment of service level expectations.  The coaching and development of subordinates across the various disciplines to create a cohesive team sharing resources are key components of this position.

     

    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUCCESS FACTORS:

    A significant key success factor is managing workflow, processes and available resources across multiple shifts to ensure that DLSS’ contractual obligations are achieved on a consistent basis in an efficient manner. The Director is expected to maintain effective client and customer relationships through the achievement of service level expectations of both DLSS and its clients.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Achieve budgeted goals and expectations while fostering an environment of shared responsibility and cooperative teamwork
    • Train and develop leaders to recognize and deploy opportunities for continuous process improvement to the delight of internal entities and our clients
    • Adopt monitoring systems and metrics (KPIs) to validate performance against internal and industry benchmarks
    • Participate in the development of strategies, plans, and budgets for specific areas of responsibility as well as the extended business unit
    • Coach and prepare leaders to be upwardly mobile and capable of fulfilling advancement opportunities as they are presented
    • Ensure compliance to SOPs and regulatory requirements across all areas of the operation in the conduct of daily activities
    • Manage workflow, human resources, other departmental interfaces and client expectations on a day to day basis that ensures service targets are met and contractual obligations are fulfilled
    • Promote a safe working environment and develop programming aimed at the measurable reduction of incidents and accidents within the workforce
    • Through awareness of capacity requirements and projected growth opportunities, develop plans to ensure facilities are capable of supporting operational demands

     

    REsponsibilities:

    • Grow and develop all staff members of the department and identify opportunities for additional training and/or increased job responsibilities
    • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with direct reports in order to plan short term and long term goals designed to improve efficiency and productivity in the Memphis Operation
    • Work with the SVP, Pharma 3PL Distribution Services to identify and review proposed changes to standard operating procedures to improve the productivity of the department and to implement approved changes that will benefit both DLSS and its clients
    • Organize daily activities of the department so that resources are properly matched to work requirements to ensure efficient achievement of all activities in support of client business
    • Coordinate problem investigation and exercise problem solving skills for developing issues or concerns as reported by clients or their customers
    • Effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) with clients and their customers regarding operational activities, but also with internal staff related to feedback and company information sharing

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Education:

     

    • Requires minimum of Bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline (engineering, business, operations management, etc.)
    • Master’s degree in a related discipline is preferred

     

    Experience:

     

    • Minimum of 15 years distribution leadership experience, preferably in Life Science Services, with a working knowledge of associated Regulatory requirements
    • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities
    • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with all levels of management and staff
    • Ability to conceptualize, design and deliver best in class solutions
    • Language skills - Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
    • Mathematical skills – Ability to focus on data analysis, trend analysis and other statistical analysis requiring more complex tools
    • Reasoning skills – Demonstrated experience with complex problem-solving tools
