    This is a site leadership position directly responsible and accountable for the successful management of day to day business functions within DLSS distribution centers.  This position is expected to determine the correct strategic direction for the 3PL distribution functions in service to our clients. These services represent a critical revenue producing function for the company which mandates focused attention, continuous improvement and a level of quality control that ensures client satisfaction with the services. 3PL services must also be managed in two ways: ensuring an adequate management team to control the day to day operational tasks to address client 3PL needs, and strategic development that continues to build this service and ensure its success across the larger enterprise. The position will involve interfacing with many different entities and internal service lines as well as external entities such as freight carriers, auditing firms, FDA and other regulatory bodies, to DLSS clients and their customers requiring that effective people relationship and communication skills are maintained at a high level to attain the service environment DLSS is expecting to achieve. 





    • Achieve financial performance at or above established DLSS plans and budgets
    • Ensure capability and capacity of systems, processes, and resources to achieve rapid growth and expansion without sacrificing quality or efficiency
    • Identify opportunities for revenue growth including service expansion, segment expansion and geographic expansion within the DLSS target customer profile
    • Continuously identify and implement opportunities to improve process efficiencies
    • Adopt monitoring systems and metrics (KPIs) to validate performance against internal and industry benchmarks
    • Build and develop a high performance team that lives the DLSS values of caring, creativity, commitment and collaborative behavior
    • Continuously achieve revenue and profitability growth targets
    • Participate in the development of strategies, plans, and budgets for specific areas of responsibility as well as the extended business unit
    • Responsible for oversight of direct recruitment and selection of talent to support the overall operation
    • Oversee and direct development and maintenance of departmental policies and guidelines
    • Actively participate in sales presentations to prospective clients and support all existing clients as required for issues related to 3PL functions


    • Provides comprehensive strategic and tactical management/leadership to 3PL functions within the DCs
    • Assists senior executive management in prioritizing operational initiatives relative to overall company objectives
    • Designs and implements operational initiatives to ensure proper solutions are adopted for the company’s present and future business needs
    • Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports/disseminates these results to the appropriate level
    • Develops and implements standard operating procedures, and participates in developing and implementing company policies and procedures
    • Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations
    • Participates in planning meetings with management for the purpose of defining company objectives relative to strategic direction
    • Participates and submits for approval, annual service line budgets and required re-forecasts including a full cost analysis highlighting plans to decrease operating expenses while maintaining or improving basic service level criteria
    • Assesses company needs for capital investment relative to overall company objectives. Submits standard cost/benefit analysis as a prelude to any capital request
    • Represents the company to clients, prospective clients, vendors, regulatory agents, auditors, executives, members of various industry associations, etc. in various settings both on and off site
    • Assists in developing and recommending pricing strategy for the organization
    • Achieves financial performance at or above established DLSS plans and budgets

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.



    • Requires minimum of Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (clinical, physical science, engineering, business, operations, etc.)
    • Masters of Science in related discipline preferred


    • Minimum of 15 years related experience required
      • Supply chain, distribution, transportation and logistics experience within the Life Science industry
      • Operations Management
      • Specific management experience within the context of a 3PL operation required
      • Experience with FDA and other regulatory Audits
      • Experience with emerging companies and associated challenges
      • Project management
      • Working with multiple clients


    • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities
    • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with all levels of management and staff
    • Ability to conceptualize, design and deliver best in class solutions
    • Ability to understand and implement specialized processes related to provision of consulting services
    • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers, establish credibility and demonstrate decisiveness
