    Responsibilities

    THE POSITION:

    The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

     

    Critical Responsibilities:

    • Analyze, prepare and input payroll data in to HRIS system and benefit platforms. Remain current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits.
    • Comprehensive and administrative knowledge of complete benefit offering.
    • Interview, test and refer applicants for all levels of the organization with a strong focus on Memphis Material Handlers. 
    • Strong experience in the development and implementation of comprehensive computer systems for human resources related data.
    • Manage HR Help Desk with timely responses to all inquiries. Ability to troubleshoot questions and provide accurate, friendly answers to companywide population.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilites:

    • Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policies.  Serve as liaison with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g. payroll). Use project management skills in managing projects. May provide overall project management for a given HR initiative.
    • Perform companywide bi-weekly payroll autonomously.
    • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, FMLA and disability claims and compliance testing. Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
    • Process job requisitions, coordinate with hiring manager(s), act as liaison with employment agencies, screen and interview applicants, coordinate appropriate employment testing, conduct employment verifications, extend verbal and written offers, coordinate background checks and drug testing, send welcome letters and guide new employee through first day of employment. Coordinate and conduct onboarding process for new employees.
    • Write, maintain and support a variety of standard reports in an effort to complete all required reporting including ACA, EEOC, Affirmative Action, etc. by utilizing and configuring data reports from ADP.
    • Recommend process improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy with approval from leadership. Assist in identifying and implementation of new HR needs and the software product to fulfill those needs.
    • Travel up to 10%

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field; minimum of 3 years experience in a human resource generalist role.
    • Experience working with ADP or similar ERP

     

    Preferred qualifications:

     

    • PHR or SPHR
    • Experience working with iCIMs or similar Applicant Tracking Systems preferred.
